Case:
State v. JL
Charges:
Felony Fifth Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance
Outcome:
Acquitted – Not Guilty on all counts
J.L. was charged with being in possession of a substantial amount of Marijuana. A package was delivered to a home he was staying at containing several pounds of marijuana. Investigators learned of the shipment and waited outside the house for the package to be delivered. Once it was taken inside, investigators raided the home. My client was not at the house. He was stopped as he drove his vehicle towards the house.
We knew the charges were bogus. J.L. had the bravery to plead Not Guilty and take his case to trial. We decided to have a bench trial, meaning a judge – not a jury – would determine whether the prosecutor had proven her case beyond a reasonable doubt. Yesterday, the verdict came in and J.L. was acquitted on all charges.
